Get your swerve on at Leyenda’s feministic holiday explosion, Sleyenda

By

Recently, a few of us at Brooklyn Based got together for holiday drinks at Leyends’s winter pop-up, Sleyenda. This is the second year that this traditionally Latin cocktail bar and cafe in Cobble Hill has gone full festive, and we sampled nearly the entire menu, except for the Hanukkah-themed drink that involves Manischevitz—no one had the courage to try that one. They have two happy hours on weeknights, one from 5-7pm and one from 11pm-1am, though it’s worth noting that these do not include the holidaytastic drinks like the Coquito Ho Ho, their version of spiked egg nog; the Tia Mia, which comes in a Santa boot; and the Gingerbread House Party, served in what appears to be a glass ornament over crushed ice for one, and something much tackier for two. No matter which side of the menu you drink from at this women-owned and managed bar, $1 from every single cocktail sold during Sleyenda goes to women-related charities such as the Global Fund for Women, New York Women’s Foundation, and Outsmart NYC, so you can feel good about knocking back far more cocktails than you normally would.
