“Walking into Hemoglyphs at Causey Contemporary, the immediate sensation is one of tentative pleasure—it’s beautiful, but something inside tells you that ‘beautiful’ isn’t the right word,” Sara Christoph explains on our blog. “The paintings are by New York artist Jordan Eagles, and the hesitation you feel is because of his chosen medium: blood.” As gimmicky, or Dexter-ish as it might sound to use preserved, slaughterhouse blood for one’s art, Eagles’ creations, says Chrisoph, “reveal themselves to be strikingly innovative and complex.” See them in person before the show closes this Sunday.
