The Dinner Before the Dinner

By

If, like us, you’re hosting Christmas dinner in your apartment, it’s fair that you may want to avoid the stove on Christmas Eve. Thankfully, some of our fave restaurants are hosting special dinners that night. The Vanderbilt, in Prospect Heights, is serving a family-style chicken dinner with dishes like brussels sprouts with sriracha, winter squash risotto, and roast chicken. The meal, which also includes dessert, is $35 per person. Meanwhile, for a different take on tradition, Mile End is holding a “traditional Jewish Christmas.” The $35 prix fixe plays off of the Chinese-food-on-Christmas theme, with unexpected Chinese/Jewish mash-ups like steamed lamb’s tongue buns and wonton egg drop soup. They’ll be serving the meal on Christmas Eve as well as Christmas; reserve now as they’re filling up rapidly.
