The boys behind Juniper Ridge take a backwoods approach to making perfume and cologne–they literally rove the forests of Northern California for plants, tree trimmings, moss and mushrooms, which they distill in an old whiskey still to create their one-of-a-kind fragrances. You might have seen smaller samplings of their foraged fragrances for sale in some of Brooklyn’s high-end boutiques, but this Friday they’re opening a pop-up shop at Barber & Supply, Fellow Barber’s concept shop at 101 N. 8th St., that promises to be an immersive experience into their particular form of fragrance making. The shop is a photo-booth sized transporter inspired by Dr. Who’s Tardis (an atypical allusion, but we’re going with it). Inside it’s offering 45 second escapes to the West Coast through images of places like Big Sur, Topanga Canyon, Death Valley and Mt. Hood. The perfumers will also be on hand to demo the distillation process they use to make their scents. Juniper Ridge sets up shop on Friday and will be around until Dec. 21.
