This year when you’ve finished your Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday shopping, take some time to pay forward a bit of your good fortune by participating in #GivingTuesday, a national campaign that promotes volunteerism, philanthropy and charitable contributions around the world to kick off the holiday season. The concept is simple: On Dec. 3, perform an act of kindness (random or otherwise) that somehow supports your local community or someone who could use a little help this holiday season. 92Y, in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, is one of the campaign’s major supporters. Here is where you can search for local community organizations, nonprofits and businesses contributing to this year’s event–shout outs to Grow NYC and Brooklyn Brewery. You can also get involved independently by doing a good deed on your own or making a donation to a cause you care about (you can find some ideas of ways to give back here).
