If you fantasize about becoming your own boss, now is the time to realize your dream. Brooklyn Public Library’s annual PowerUP! Business Plan Competition is back to offer one lucky Brooklynite $15,000 in start-up cash–plus more cash awards ranging from $5,000 to $500 for winning business plans. All you need to do to throw your hat in the ring is register and attend one of the two remaining orientation sessions. Then comes the fun part: The library helps you figure out what’s needed to get your business off the ground, and offers you access to a ton of resources so you can write a winning business plan, develop a marketing strategy for your idea or product and, importantly, find a way to bankroll your dream. And best of all, a business counselor will help you keep your eyes on the prize. Orientations run through April 12.
