Designer’s notes: Growing up in Bay Ridge, I was lucky to experience the unique character of this Brooklyn neighborhood throughout the years. From the traditional homes and peaceful views by the bay, to the hustle and bustle of Third Avenue, the contrasts of the area are one of a kind. The greenery of the neighborhood is comforting, stretching from John Paul Jones Park in the South to Owl’s Head Park in the North, with several parks in between. It is also bordered by Shore Parkway with majestic views of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. I always enjoy taking strolls and exploring the area. Bay Ridge is a welcoming place where you can find people of various backgrounds and interests eating, shopping, and living side by side. I met my best friends at P.S. 102 and we remain close to this day. There is a sense of tranquility that is hard to find in the fast-paced city of New York. The Verrazano Bridge is a beacon for the neighborhood, always peaking out at you between buildings and trees or down the avenue. From the far reaches of Brooklyn, you know that it will guide you home to Bay Ridge.

I am a graphic designer by profession and this design is my way of simplifying the essence of this neighborhood into a visual representation. Bay Ridge continues to inspire me and shape me as a person, therefore this work serves as an homage to my extraordinary hometown.

It really would be groovy to at least get to see all of the flag entries. I presently live in Indiana, but my heart is still with my BKLYN borough.

I love my neighborhood of Prospect Heights and I truly believe this flag captures its energy and soul. I wish it was available to purchase and so I could fly it. Bravo Erich!

Hi, are these for sale? I would love to get a print of the Bay Ridge flag and give it to my mom for Christmas. Is there anyway I can get in contact with the artist?

I can see why they didn’t print them.

Whilst all attractive, only the winning flag is anything like a flag.

Surprised so many forgot flags are simple, very simple. Look at Japan’s, Switzerland’s, Canada’s.
