With over 20 years of cooking experience in London, Santiago, Chile, Austin, TX, and New York City, Red Table Catering owner and head chef Brooke Costello can create any wedding menu to match your unique style and vision.

The Brooklyn-based catering company, founded in 2002, works with a team of experienced event and wedding professionals to help bring your vision to life. While every event is different, they understand that each occasion calls for the finest food, artfully delivered.

Brooke began cooking professionally since he was a teenager in Buffalo, New York. As a student at Oberlin College, he worked in a student-run food co-op, where he baked bread, made tofu and yogurt and learned the importance both of sourcing superior local products and focusing on people’s experience with the food he created.

After college Brooke worked in Bertorelli, a fine Italian restaurant in London’s Covent Garden, in the smoker at Ruby’s BBQ in Austin, Texas and at Austin’s premier caterer Word Of Mouth Catering. His last major stop before New York was in the market center of Santiago, Chile where he spent three years creating dishes with the incredible bounty of regional seafood and produce and learned from some of Santiago’s best cooks.

Brooke applies this cooking experience, as varied as his palette, to create a feast to suit you and your celebration. Red Table will bring you unique and familiar foods and celebration ideas using the abundance of seasonal and local produce. They are proud to support local farms and foods while helping you craft a splendid event.

To learn more about what they offer to help you create a spectacular wedding day, contact them or call (917-749-3639) for a consultation and they can begin to plan the joyous occasion.

Throwing a spectacular, 80-person wedding in Brooklyn for anything less than $40,000 is a feat. (That’s the low-end, average price of hosting your nuptials here–The Knot estimates the cost is closer to $60,000.) Throwing a wedding here for $14,000 is a bit of a miracle. But Laura Dolce-Bun, a teacher, and Mey Dolce-Bun, a farmer, managed with the help of talented friends and a lot of hands-on planning.

Of course, not everyone has a wedding photographer friend they can ask to shoot their weddings, as Laura and Mey did. Their connections at their venue helped, too, but they rented it at an opportune time when it was just getting started. Any couple can do this and expect to save money, as brand-new or soon-to-open venues often discount their prices to fill the calendar quickly and get cash flowing.

Laura and Mey also kept costs down by doing a lot of the work that a caterer would typically do, like arranging for the rentals of tables, seating and dinnerware, procuring all the meat, produce and alcohol themselves, and asking friends to bartend.

Even if you don’t intend to go DIY like they did, their tips, particularly for savoring the moments of a day you’ve spent a year planning, are worth heeding. Here’s how planned their October 2016 Williamsburg wedding. (more…)

We are coming upon our eighth annual Wedding Crashers, the city’s best wedding fair (in our not-so-humble opinion!), held this year on March 19. Not only will you meet all the talented, creative people who will pull your day together, capture it in photos and videos, decorate it with the most beautiful florals, and dress you and your partner in bespoke suits and custom gowns, we also have the most delicious caterers whose food you can sample on site, glass of bubbly in one hand, ever-changing hors d’oeuvre in the other.

Join us March 19 at 501 Union and The Green Building, and meet the 60+ vendors we’ve gathered. You’ll also be able to hitch a ride on a free shuttle from our sponsor, Buster, to the Bell House afterward for our wedding band showcase, Wedding Crashers Live.

Attendees hire an average of one to three vendors they meet at our fair. So imagine crossing a few big To-Do’s off your wedding checklist, all while enjoying good food and drink and live music. It’s a win-win for all.

Purchase your ticket here, and use the code BB to get $5 off, good through Feb. 1. Then follow us on Instagram at @weddingcrashersfair to learn about other upcoming events like our free open house of Morris-Jumel Mansion this Sunday and our upcoming bridal brunch March 5.

Raging Skillet

The Raging Skillet,” a well-guarded secret within the world of NYC entertaining and weddings, has actually been catering non-traditional weddings, international soirees and fabulous holiday bashes for over 27 years.

They are perhaps best known as the anti-caterer–everything is personalized down to the menu and style of service. Tired of old fashioned sit-downs? Try family style, table-side French service or Chef Rossi’s fave, The Floating Supper!

The food reflects fusions from Korea, Japan, Thailand, Cuba, South Carolina, New Orleans, Morocco, Jamaica, India, Puerto Rico, the Southwest, the Middle East, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and Chef Rossi’s mother’s Hungarian Yiddish home cooking. All menus and budgets are tailored to each and every client.

New York Magazine singled them out as one of the “Hottest Caterers of New York” and New York Weddings named them best wedding caterer for 20 years running. Raging Skillet was also featured on The Food Network, called “eclectic, ethnic and off the wall” by the Zagat Survey who gave The Raging Skillet their very highest rating; The New York Times profiled them as the new “Rebel Anti-Caterer” and on WeddingWire they received the Couple’s Award for favorite caterer. The Raging Skillet has also been voted one of New York’s Top Wedding Caterers by The Knot in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and now 2016!

Molds are a wonderful thing to break!

Nestled squarely between Park Slope and Carroll Gardens, The Bell House is a state of the art 8,000 square foot facility with separate performance space and lounge.

Crafted out of a 1920’s printing factory and featuring an 88 foot long, 25 foot high magnificent wooden barrel vault ceiling, The Bell House has quickly become a major hub for arts and performance in Brownstone Brooklyn.

Located directly in the front of the building, the Front Lounge of The Bell House retains a warm and intimate character while still comfortably accommodating up to 150 people. This space features a gorgeous 26 foot oak bar serving handcrafted and local beers and a full wine and liquor selection. Groups large and small can lounge on vintage furniture and mingle in soft lighting showcased through large windows allowing sunlight in the day and starry views at night.

The Main Room at The Bell House boasts 25 foot wooden arched ceilings, a 450 square foot stage, and unobstructed views of the stage from any part of the room, making it an ideal space for weddings and celebrations of all kinds. This space easily accommodates 400 standing.

The Bell House is located in what has long been a quiet stronghold for artists and musicians. The Gowanus neighborhood, with its early twentieth century red brick warehouses, has been a haven for artists seeking space for creative endeavors. The Bell House is thrilled to be a part of 7th Street, a block made up of numerous artist work spaces, galleries and businesses including Gowanus Studio Space and the Pace Paper Studio. Three quick blocks from the F, R and G trains and within walking distance of Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, and Boerum Hill. 200-250 seated theater style, or 100-140 seated at round banquet tables. Guests can also enjoy birds-eye views from the raised platform of the beautiful 30’ wooden bar along the West wall. This space can be combined with use of the Front Lounge to accommodate up to 550 guests for standing events.
