See you at the Bandshell: BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival runs through August

There’s only one free summer-long outdoor concert and performance series in New York City that has been presenting talent from around the world and around the block for nearly 40 years: the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival. This year’s season welcomes more than 75 artists for 25 free performances at the Prospect Park Bandshell from June through August.

Lake Street Dive opens this year’s BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival with a rollicking mix of R&B, jazz, soul, and ’60s-era rock. This modern-day quartet is known for its exhilarating live performances, and you can see for yourself—for free!—on Wednesday, June 7 at 8:00 PM at the Prospect Park Bandshell!

Following this fantastic opening night, R&B-meets-jazz songstress Alice Smith takes the stage on Saturday, June 10, along with neo-soul vet Bilal and pianist/composer Kris Bowers. And Saturday, June 17 is our annual children’s concert, where Lisa Loeb will bring us an afternoon of fun-loving, sing-along-able numbers, joined by the Brooklyn-based orchestra The Knights, starting at 3pm.

There are 25 free performances in all this summer—all under the stars at the Prospect Park Bandshell—including Amadou & Mariam, Pharoah Sanders, The Soul Rebels featuring Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch & Kirk Knight, Admiral T, Nels Cline, Whitney, Béla Fleck & the Flecktones, Andrew Bird, Lila Downs, Esperanza Spalding, Chronixx, Yeasayer, a live score to the Oscar-winning film Selma, and the gravity-defying dance moves of Pilobolus. And you definitely don’t want to miss our closing show with one of Africa’s biggest stars Youssou N’Dour!

Mark your calendars for a stellar summer of concerts and performances starting June 7!
