If you’re one of the lucky few with a patch of greenspace to call your own, this thaw we’re experiencing means it’s time to get to work on prepping, pruning and planting for spring. To that end, you’re going to want to swing by Green-Wood Cemetery this Saturday at 2pm to pick up some free supplies. Bring your own bag and fill it up with top-grade mulch; get some tips from the horticulture experts who will be on hand; and even pick up one of the free, 10-25-pound trees being handed out by the New York Restoration Project and MillionTreesNYC. Although some trees will be available for walk-ups, you’re better off registering here to reserve one in advance. The best part is that all of this is absolutely free, unlike those pricey trips to Lowe’s that are probably in your future.
