Garden Party

By

The August 13 meeting of the Linnaean Libation League was even more fabulous than we anticipated. The first batch of party pictures are online here and here.

If, like us, you feel an instant sense of elation once you step inside Brooklyn Botanic Garden, then mark August 13 on your calendar. That Thursday, the inaugural meeting of the Linnaean Libation League will convene — which is a fancy way of saying BBG and Brooklyn Based are inviting you to a fabulous summer garden party.

In honor of Carl Linneaus, father of modern botanical taxonomy, the League celebrates all the things Linneaus was known for — beauty, botany, culture, brilliance — over twilight drinks in the Mediterranean-style Osborne Garden. A special cucumber-mint cocktail courtesy of the French aperitif Lillet will be free the entire night and there will be $3 drafts of Sixpoint Craft Ale, the evening’s other sponsor. (The bar will be stocked with $5 glasses of bubbly, rose, white and red wine, too.)

Tickets for the night of cocktails and live music are $15, available here, to everyone 21 and up. (The opportunity to mingle in a magic garden in your finest party attire, of course, is priceless.) Special Linnaean Libation League calling cards are scattered around Brooklyn (find yours at places like Oslo Coffee, Roebling Tea Room, Walter Foods, Champion Coffee, Baked, Sample (ask behind the bar), Dumbo General StoreForagers Market, Greene Grape Wine Shop, Thistle and Clover, Outpost Cafe, Ortine, Beast, Weather Up, and Franklin Park). Sign it and bring it with you to be entered into a drawing for a year’s free admission to Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

Your garden party dresses and seersucker suits have been waiting all their lives for this night…
