Only Happy When It Rains

BAM’s newest production as part of the 2010 Next Wave Festival somehow manages to make getting caught in the rain seem appealing. Choreographer Pina Bausch’s dance piece Vollmond (Full Moon) was first staged in 2006 by her company Tanztheater Wuppertal; a year after her death, her company brings the evocative piece to Brooklyn. The work pairs unexpected music (including Tom Waits and Cat Power) with unexpected visuals (dancers splashing through torrential rain) to create a transformative experience. Vollmond runs through October 9th.
