Family Game Night

By

DUMBO: If you’ve ever spent a late night playing board games, you know how serious a roll of the dice can get. Friday’s Nerd Nite at Galapagos features four writers giving presentations on the secret truths behind several classic games. Stefan Fatsis will be presenting a summary of his findings in the Scrabble obsessive tome Word Freak and Mary Pilon (of the WSJ) will be telling the sinister tale behind Monopoly’s origins; for a change of pace, Seth Porges will be exploring the era during which pinball was banned, and Neil Janowitz will take on the twenty-year history of Tetris in twenty minutes. If all this game talk has you looking for a bridge partner of your own, there will also be speed dating for the first 25 men and 25 women who sign up.
