GREENPOINT: For a while now, graphic novels have been playing at the edges of the literary mainstream, so it’s no surprise that Brooklyn writers have embraced the form. On Tuesday night at WORD, two graphic memoirists will be discussing their works with Christina Oppold, of Brooklyn’s Stacked blog. Martin Lemelman’s book Two Cents Plain provides a gripping take on his childhood in Brownsville, while Julia Wertz’ Drinking at the Movies takes a more lighthearted view towards her move from San Francisco to Brooklyn; both provide evocative visual insights into the borough we all call home.
