One Pill Makes You Larger

PROSPECT HEIGHTS: Fred Tomaselli–Godfather to many Brooklyn artists–has a mid-career retrospective at the Brooklyn Museum through January 2. His meticulous collage paintings of pills, plants, cutouts, and in some cases bugs, are amazing to behold in all their intricacies. As he once said about his choice of materials, “In my work, [the drugs] travel to the brain and alter consciousness through the eyes.” Luckily the museum is now open until 10pm on Thursdays and Fridays, so you can spend more time pouring over his alternate realities.
