DUMBO As much as we love our iPads and laptops, sometimes we can’t help but pine for a way to combine the technology we live on with the elegant designs of a foregone era. The Victorian-meets-sci-fi subculture steampunk manages to find the perfect middle ground — think bustles and goggles, Jules Verne and HG Wells. On Sunday, the DUMBO Lofts with be hosting a steampunk fashion show and exhibition. From 11am-4pm, TOR Books will be hosting a Steampunk Literary Corner with readings from The Time Machine and other steampunk classics along with free tea and scones; the fashion show takes place at 4 and includes designers like curiosity-seller Ami Nyitray and ornate costume-maker Kristin Costa. Portraits with a vintage camera will also be available for $20.
