Sleepover Spookfest

By

CONEY ISLAND As anyone who’s ever enjoyed an episode of Scooby Doo knows well, abandoned theme parks are creepy — even more so when you can’t escape. On Saturday night, the Coney Island Freakshow is holding its first-ever sleepover. Scaredy cats can turn up early for the Creepshow at the Freakshow haunted house and stick around for the party, featuring live music and burlesque; at 1am, though, the doors will be locked and anyone brave enough to stick around will be subjected to trashy horror movies, monster makeovers, a seance, drink specials, and likely very little sleep. For those who make it through the night, a dawn swim in the ocean and a bagel breakfast round out the experience. If a whole night of frights is a bit too much, you can still check out the Creepshow at the Freakshow every night leading up to and including Halloween, or Nights of Horror at Luna Park, with spooky characters and a haunted maze bringing Halloween spirit to the seaside rides on weekends through the 31st.
