DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN The Polish artist Agata Oleksiak, or Olek, has crocheted every imaginable object–cars, bikes, fences, bridges, furniture, even herself. (Poke around her site for some interesting examples.) But she doesn’t limit her material to yarn, as you can see right now in the Humanities Gallery at LIU’s Brooklyn Campus. There, she’s crocheted two cartoonish, 12-foot-tall dogs using 13,000 latex balloons. As the show, “Kiss Me, I Crochet,” winds down to its closing date of Dec. 9, the doggies will shrink to the size of little pups. Check it out 9am-6pm Monday through Friday, at 1 University Plaza at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues.
