Festivals, Lights

SUNSET PARK When someone finds themselves thinking of Hanukkah, it’s latkes and dreidels that come to mind first, not graffiti and models. Tonight, the Sephardic Music Festival’s opening night aims to broaden the world of Hanukkah with its Warehouse Art Rave and Fashion Show. The loft party features interactive and live art, tagging, and a fashion show featuring Baruch Chertok’s Israeli keffiyeh; music will be provided by hip-hop artists Diwon, DeScribe, and Y-Love. For somewhat more time-honored takes on the holiday, lovable Borough President Marty Markowitz will be lighting Borough Hall’s 29-foot menorah on Thursday evening, and Matisyahu will be continuing his annual Festival of Lights concert series; though many dates are sold out or taking place outside of the borough, tickets are still available for Sunday’s show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
