GOWANUS Though historically taxidermists have a (perhaps undeserved) reputation for being creepy, the increase of taxidermy – and rogue taxidermists – in recent years has begun to redefine the hobby. On Tuesday night, the Bell House will be holding the Fifth Annual Carnivorous Nights Taxidermy Contest, co-sponsored by the Secret Science Club and the Minnesota Association of Rogue Taxidermists. Competitors are welcome to bring anything they’d categorize as taxidermy, whether homemade, found, unrealistic, or true-to-life. The evening commences with a talk by Mike Zohn, star of the Discovery Channel’s Oddities; in addition, taxidermy-themed music is promised, as are specialty drinks.
