Snape's in a Play

FORT GREENE If the over-the-top plot and Shia LeBeouf put you off the second Wall Street movie, perhaps John Gabriel Borkman, Ibsen’s tale of greed, power and deception, will prove a good salve. This month, BAM is staging a new version of the play, featuring such UK theatre luminaries as Fiona Shaw (seen in BAM’s 2008 production of Beckett’s Happy Days) and Alan Rickman (best-known for his velvety-voiced Snape in the Harry Potter films, but also a two-time Tony nominee). Scheming, plotting, and the shock arrival of a former lover all add up to a dramatic conclusion.
