GOWANUS On Tuesday, a true legend graces the stage at the Bell House. Now in her seventies, Mavis Staples has had a long and illustrious musical career, beginning as a gospel singer at age eleven with her family’s group and later helping to soundtrack the civil rights movement; most recently, she released an album, produced by Jeff Tweedy, called You Are Not Alone.
