PARK SLOPE Union Hall’s Adult Education calls itself “a useless lecture series,” but we all know the truth – their monthly themed lectures, presented by Stay Free!, bring topics like abnormal psychology, war, and money to life through personal anecdotes and quirky historical facts. On Tuesday, the focus is on Brooklyn, with four presentations on various aspects of our borough. Betsy Bradley, the assistant director for public programs at the New York Public Library and author of Knickerbocker: The Myth Behind New York, will be giving a lecture on the 1911 fire at Coney Island’s Dreamland, while filmmaker Heather Quinlan will be discussing the Brooklyn accent; Howard Eisman’s talk on Irish political boss Peter J. McGuinness and Mike Miscione’s lecture titled “Up With the Flag of Brooklyn!” round out the evening.
