The Sound The Speed The Light

GOWANUS The post-punk legends Mission of Burma play the Bell House on Saturday night. Way back when, their gigs were so notoriously loud that the band disbanded in ’83 due to guitarist/vocalist Roger Miller’s worsening tinnitus; it took them nearly twenty years to reform and record new material, the likes of which were lauded by critics just as their original recordings were. The Boston-based band, who managed to inspire iconic acts in their own right like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, Pixies, and Guided by Voices during their short existence in their early 80s, will be joined by buzzworthy up-and-comers Buke and Gass. The Brooklyn duo will set the stage for Mission of Burma’s innovative music with their self-made armada of instruments.
