RED HOOK There is nothing on the Sunny’s site that mentions the “Sundays at Sunny’s” reading series, curated by Gabriel Cohen and co-sponsored by BookCourt. But the slightly under-the-radar aspect of this monthly event, held at Sunny Balzano’s storied waterfront bar, is what makes the series all the more special, and this month’s installment brings some well known Brooklyn authors and personalities. Myla Goldberg will read from a new book-in-progress about a woman “trying to untangle a 20-year-old memory,” Brooklyn Brewery Brewmaster Garret Oliver will read from his newest book, The Brewmaster’s Table, and Alden Bell will read from his Southern Gothic novel, The Reapers Are the Angels, which has been likened to “Flannery O’Connor with zombies.” 3pm, $5 admission, free coffee and Italian pastries. 253 Conover St.
