Leaking the Leakers

DUMBO Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Julian Assange and his speak-truth-to-power organization Wikileaks are the story of the past year. Though WikiLeaks gained notoriety in 2010 for releasing almost 400,000 documents on the Iraq War, the organization itself has heretofore managed to avoid any lengthy examination – until now. WikiLeaks and the Age of Transparency, written by blogger and co-founder/executive editor of the Personal Democracy Forum Micah L. Sifry, is the first book to examine the WikiLeaks phenomenon at length and its influence on the nascent transparency movement. On Tuesday, Sifry will be appearing at powerHouse Arena to read from and discuss the book; to keep conversation flowing, drinks will also be served.
