Fairest Of Them All

This Sunday, the Bell House’s free State Fair series is having its biggest blowout yet in homage to the largest state fair in the country. The Minnesota State Fair sets daily attendance records with crowds eager to see butter sculptures, compete in livestock shows, and of course eat all manner of food-on-a-stick, from the common corn dog to “hotdish” (a Minnesotan spin on casserole) and spaghetti. The Bell House’s take on the festival incorporates all of the elements we’ve come to love at the venue’s state fairs, from cookoffs featuring state foods (the theme, this time, being the aforementioned stick-based foods) and beers from local breweries to DJs from the state; this time, added excitement comes in the form of comedians John and Molly Knefel; Sam Osterhout, host of Radio Happy Hour; and additional food from the New York-based Mexicue and Minnesotan-owned Cake & Shake trucks. Most excitingly, Minnesota senator and personality in his own right Al Franken will be stopping by to choose the winner of the cookoff and talk about his native land.
