Curatorial Eye

Curator Risa Shoup, who manages the BRIC House Fireworks Residency Program and is the development consultant for upstate mill-turned-art mecca The Wassaic Project (best known for its summer festival), is returning to The Invisible Dog at 51 Bergen St. with another group show titled Art & Lies: A Curator’s Life, featuring mixed-media works that coalesce around recurring themes in Shoup’s life: gender, environment, time, alienation and isolation. The opening party is tonight from 6 to 9 pm; stick around to see the two major light installations in the space: PRANA, featuring 2000 spheres of seemingly living, breathing light, and the colorful video projections of Julian Gardair’s Camera Locus 2 in the basement of the former belt factory.
