It is now exceedingly apparent that, for all its convenience, the Internet has a dark side, and one that we need to be aware of as we navigate the next inevitable wave of technological advances. Virginia Eubanks, author of Digital Dead End: Fighting for Social Justice in the Information Age, will be reading from her book at WORD at 7:30 pm and leading a discussion about how we can ensure that technology doesn’t merely exacerbate preexisting social inequality, but instead serves as a tool to help achieve social justice.
