Do yourself a favor and start summer Fridays a month early with a 3pm event at Spoonbill & Sugartown. The usual “author reads from newly published book” template is turned on its head by Will Oldham, best known as modern-day folkster Bonnie “Prince” Billy, who will be reading from Rudolph Wurlitzer’s 1984 novel Slow Fade. The reading coincides with the release of an audiobook of the novel, also read by Oldham. The Drag City family will be well represented at the event; psych-folk guitarist of Six Organs of Admittance Ben Chasny will be providing live musical accompaniment, and Magik Markers’ Elisa Ambrogio will open the event with a reading of her own.
