Benefit Shows at Southpaw

The first of two benefits at Southpaw this week is tonight, with money going to Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support (JEARS) as well as Americares. JEARS is a no-kill rescue organization that is trying to help animals affected by the March earthquake and tsunami. There will be DJ sets from Dj3dg and DJ Megan Rascal, performances from Gretchen Witt and Yukari Roja, film and food presentations and a raffle. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show is at 8. It’s $15 to get in.

Thursday is the Rock Against Cancer NY show. The proceeds from this show are going toward the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Team in Training. There will be performances from local bands The Lifted Crew, The Bottom Dollars, Flearoy and The Times, plus a raffle that will include sports memorabilia and food and drink gift certificates. Doors are at 7 p.m., the show starts at 8:30. It’s $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
