BAM’s Indie Film Fest

By

Over the next 11 days, BAM is bringing 25 great indie film premieres and special screenings to Brooklyn with its annual BAMcinemaFest. It begins tonight with the Before Sunrise-esque, gay British drama Weekend, which won the Audience Award at SXSW, followed by an Opening Night party with the filmmakers, free food and drink, and continues with gems like the skateboarding doc Dragonslayer; The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, about artist Genesis P-Orridge and h/er body modification Pandrogyne project with Lady Jaye; and the world premiere of Jamel Shabazz: Street Photographer, in which director Charlie Ahearn follows Shabazz through Brooklyn as he shows his “back in the day” photos to the men who lived through the crack wars. Tickets for these films, and others we highlighted here are still available. For now.
