For the next two weekends, the Vertical Player Repertory is staging La Calisto in the outdoor courtyard at Proteus Gowanus. Francesco Cavalli’s 17th century opera about the sex and seduction among the Greek gods is a perennial hit with modern audiences, perhaps because most of the story is set in the bedroom. Tickets are only $30; besides Friday’s show, the opera will also be performed on Sunday, July 10; Thursday, July 14; and Saturday, July 16, all at 8pm.
