On Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 10:30, Dan Neustadt, Northern Bells keyboardist and former touring keyboardist for The Hold Steady, turns The Manhattan Inn into the kind of piano bar you always wished for but never knew existed. He bookends the night with two sets of indie, rock and pop covers–think Green Day, Michael Jackson, Arcade Fire, Big Star, Santogold, Hall and Oates, Flaming Lips, David Bowie–and if you can name one entire set, he’ll buy you a drink! At 8:30 he also plays one album straight through, and tonight, in tribute, he plays Amy Winehouse’s acclaimed Back to Black, her second and last. His residency continues into August, and special guest Franz Nicolay will soon join him to cover another album (perhaps next week). OK Computer, Funeral, and Thriller are all possibilities.
