Rockin’ in the Free World

If 127 Hours whet your appetite for films dedicated to the art of climbing, stop by Littlefield this Saturday for several hours of mountainous movies brought to the neighborhood by the 6th annual REEL ROCK Film Tour. The event brings together six films featuring dramatic depictions of climbing around the world, from Cold, depicting the first successful climb of an 8,000 meter peak in Pakistan, to right here in Brooklyn with Origins: Obe and Ashima, featuring a young bouldering champion who’s been known to climb at Brooklyn Boulders. Seats are just $5, and standing room admission is free. After the screening, the rock-centric fun moves to Brooklyn Boulders, where community members are invited to join in the filming of the “Short Shorts” community music video. After a long day’s work of climbing and watching others climb on the big screen, drop by Canal Bar for drink specials.
