NYC on the Small Screen

There is something undeniably thrilling about seeing our hometown as the backdrop to a great TV series, and thanks to the implementation of strategic tax incentives in recent years, there are a record 23 shows currently filming in NYC for the 2011-2012 season. Tonight at 6:30pm, Long Island University’s Kumble Center for the Performing Arts is hosting a panel of directors and producers of New York-centric hits like Boardwalk Empire, Law & Order, and Gossip Girl for a presentation entitled Lights, Camera, Action: NY Keeping it Reel! Sponsored by HBO and moderated by the Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office for Media and Entertainment, the free talk will provide general information about television production as well as anecdotes and tips specific to filming here in the Big Apple. Email info@cencom.org to rsvp.
