None More Black

Where would we be as a society without references to amps that go to 11, miniature Stonehenges, and mysteriously dying drummers? Pay due respect to the legendary rock mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap on Friday night at The Rock Shop, an evening that not only brings together a number of musicians to perform songs from and inspired by the film, but also promises to bring to life the “sounds, sights, and smells of a hard-working rock band on the road,” whatever that means. Featured musicians include Joe McGinty from the Psychedelic Furs, David Lynch collaborator Julee Cruise, and Chris Butler (The Waitresses); there’s also the promise of a special guest who will open the evening’s festivities. If you’d rather hear classics like “Big Bottom” on the big screen, BAM is screening Spinal Tap at 7, which will include a Skype Q&A with bandmates Nigel Tufnel and Derek Smalls (Christoper Guest and Harry Shearer), and later at 11:11 (of course).
