Relive your childhood at Saturday’s Elmo-centric screenings at BAMcinématek. The family-friendly double feature, part of their Puppets on Film series, begins at noon with The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, a ’99 Sesame Street favorite featuring villainous turns by Vanessa Williams and Mandy Patinkin and teaching moments on sharing; Kevin Clash, Elmo’s puppeteer, will be making a special appearance. Next, go behind the scenes with the new critically acclaimed film Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey, starring Clash, who recounts how he was able to follow his dreams and work for his hero Jim Henson’s stable of puppeteers. Clash and the film’s producer/cinematographer James Miller will both be appearing at this screening. For a chance to win tickets to these films or any others in the puppet- and Muppet-filled series, check out yesterday’s dedicated email.
