Reading Rager

Librarians know how to party. Don’t believe us? Come to Saturday’s Biblioball at the Bell House and find out for yourself – and don’t say we didn’t warn you. The annual event, hosted by the Desk Set, serves as both a fundraiser for the worthy Literacy for Incarcerated Teens as well as a chance for librarians and those who love them to let down their hair. This year, entertainment comes in the forms of trapeze performances by Jean Loscalzo and 2ToFly Aerial’s Joshua and Ben, the screening of a short noir film called “S is for Shhhhh…,” and music by the Jay Vons, the Nouvellas, and a number of DJs playing soul, funk, psych, new-wave, and more. More book-centric fun can be found in the Fancy Pants raffle, featuring fantastic local prizes; origami corsage-making; and the Uni Project, a portable reading room that will be accepting donations of gently used books. There are three levels of tickets available – Leather Bound tickets ($40) include drink specials, goody bags, and VIP treatment; Hardcover tickets ($20) include a full night’s worth of entertainment, starting at 8pm; and Paperback tickets ($10) will be available at the door for admission after midnight.
