What’s not to love about Hanukkah? Eight days of presents, chocolate gelt, and, best of all, potato latkes with sour cream and applesauce. Get ready for this year’s festival of lights at the Third Annual Latke Festival and Cook-Off, hosted at BAM this Monday. Chefs from a number of New York restaurants will be prepping their best interpretations of the classic holiday dish, including Brooklyn favorites like Mile End and the Vanderbilt. All this cooking isn’t without a competitive element, however; a latke champ will be crowned by judges like The Art of Eating In’s Cathy Erway, Edible Brooklyn’s Rachel Wharton, and borough prez Marty Markowitz.
