It’s almost the end of the year, which should mean it’s time to party, right? We already showed you some of the best New Years Eve parties the borough has to offer, so here are a handful of shows to get you through the week in case those aren’t your style.
Alt-country act Lucero is going to play Brooklyn Bowl on Friday. They play highly singable songs about Americana and small town life, but with a bit of a modernized edge to them. They’ll be joined on stage by Lionize, who last turned up in the borough alongside Larry and His Flask back in September. Presale tickets are sold out, however there will be limited entry at the door. If you haven’t already bought a ticket, be sure to show up when the doors open at 6pm with $25 in cash.
Deer Tick will be playing a New Years Eve gig this week, also at Brooklyn Bowl. The alt-country act incorporates a garage rock edge and raw, almost bluesy vocals. They’ll be joined on stage by J. Roddy Walston and the Business, Dead Confederate and Virgin Forest. The doors open at 6pm for the 8pm show. It’s $45 to get in, and the show is ages-21-and-over. Brooklyn Bowl is also offering a combo deal to get tickets to this show and Lucero for a discount.
Once your New Years Eve hangover wears off, you might be in the mood for some crusty political punk rock, so head over to the Music Hall of Williamsburg on January 1 to check out Leftover Crack. They formed in 2000 following the breakup of Choking Victim and put out two records, Mediocre Generica and Fuck World Trade. They haven’t released a full-length since 2003, though they have been active playing live, and are working on new material to potentially release in 2012. (A) Truth, Morgan O’kane and Wound open the show, which starts at 9pm (doors are at 8pm). It’s ages-16-and-over, and it’ll be $15 to get in.
