We predict one of the emerging Brooklyn bands worth noting for 2012 is going to be Yellow Ostrich. As a group they’ve slowly been gaining momentum, first touring as openers during the beginning of 2011, which led to opening for Beirut at Northside Festival this past June, and then they absolutely killed at the Glasslands record release party of their LP The Mistress (all accomplished before they concluded the year with a slew of dates during the CMJ Music Marathon). This Thursday at the Music Hall of Williamsburg they open for the Lafayette, Louisiana band Givers, a group that’s a shot of Cajun sunshine followed by a dance-party rush. So basically it looks like it might be one of the happiest, funnest concerts in Brooklyn ever. Or, at the very least, of 2012 so far. If that isn’t reason enough to go: one of Yellow Ostrich’s songs was on our best songs of 2011, and so far this is their only scheduled show for the year.
