Ladies’ Night

By

It’s the first weekend of the month, and that means it’s time for Target’s First Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum. March’s theme is “Fierce Phenomenal Women,” in honor of Women’s History Month, so the opportunity for visitors to contribute images to an installation inspired by the ever-fierce The Dinner Party by Judy Chicago seems appropriate. Other highlights include a feminist reading of popular books written for women over the past century, a performance by Brooklyn Ballet, a talk by author Sarah Marcus about her book Girls to the Front: The True Story of the Riot Grrrl Revolution, and a poetic hip-hop soul performance by Queen Godis. The evening begins at 5pm and all of the events are free to attend, although some may require advance tickets. While you’re there, check out Rachel Kneebone’s intricate porcelain sculptures, which we reviewed here.
