Homegrown Dessert

On a mission to finally make a raised bed garden happen this summer, we recently stopped into Rose Red & Lavender, a great flower shop and gardening resource chock full of beautiful plants, gifts, and random curiosities and staffed by friendly and very knowledgeable clerks. We were already committed to giving the place more business when we discovered that the shop also offers weekly classes on topics like hydroponics and growing fruit trees in apartments. Saturday’s class on how to make ice cream with edible flowers like rose and lavender caught our attention, especially because several of the ice cream, sorbet, and granita recipes that will be covered do not require an ice cream maker. The class starts at 10am and costs $35, which covers instruction, demos and, of course, a tasting.
