Contort Yourself

By

After moving to NYC in the mid-70s, James Chance joined Lydia Lunch’s Teenage Jesus and The Jerks, and was soon kicked out for being too talented. But that’s okay because that allowed him to start his own band, The Contortions, and contribute four of his own songs to Brian Eno’s classicNo New York compilation. The master saxophonist and king of no-wave is back in Brooklyn for a show with his latest band, The JCs, at Brooklyn Bowl this Thursday. And let us assure you, to this day, Chance still puts on one of the best live shows ever. Tickets are only $10 and are available here.
