Polish practices and traditions have been enriching Brooklyn for over a hundred years—from “Little Poland” in Greenpoint to the pierogis at Warsaw. But did you know about the annual Polish Film Festival, now in its eighth year? With Polish features, documentaries, and shorts, the New York Polish Film Festival is the largest festival promoting and presenting Polish film on the East Coast, and is responsible for bringing over 150 films to a public that might otherwise have missed out on the opportunity. The festival will be at Indiescreen for its first three days and then transfer to Manhattan for its final night, with rare U.S. appearances by the filmmakers themselves. Tickets are $15 and available an hour before show time, or available online here–just make sure to click the American flag in the upper right hand corner to get the site in English.
