This Sunday, discover how women in different cultures celebrate their weddings during the Brooklyn Arts Council’s Bachelorette Bash at The American Association of Crimean Turks Mosque. For the closing event of BAC’s Half the Sky Festival: Brooklyn Women in Traditional Performance, all are invited for a pre-wedding party filled with food, henna artists, and women from the Crimean diaspora, Yemen, Guyana, and Algeria performing wedding songs, dances, comedic skits and dress traditions that will open your eyes to a world beyond Martha Stewart, Corinthians and “Here Comes the Bride.” The event is 2:30 to 5pm and $5 at the door, 4509 New Utrecht Avenue, between 45th and 46th Streets, near the Fort Hamilton Parkway stop on the D Train.
