Easy As Pie

By

Roll up your sleeves, pull on your baking gloves and let’s see what you’re made of…or what your pie is made of. This Saturday at Smorgasburg, The Brooklyn Kitchen presents the Daisy Flour Pie Contest. Not only is this a chance to win some really cool prizes (like a Cuisinart food processor and or pie-making tools), but it also doubles as a fundraiser with all proceeds going to the Greenpoint Soup Kitchen. For $5 you can enter your pie (it must be sweet–don’t get cute with a pizza or pot-pie), or hang out and taste everyone else’s and vote for your fave. If you wish to enter, pick up two pounds of Daisy Organic Pastry Flour at the Brooklyn Kitchen by Friday (included in your $5 entry fee) and hand your pie over to the Brooklyn Kitchen’s booth at Smorgasburg by 2pm on Saturday. There will be a panel of judges led by the Brooklyn Kitchen’s pie maven, Millicent Souris, who just came out with a new book, How to Build a Better Pie. And of course, if all that pie gets you craving something savory, all the usual Smorgasburg fun, like BossaNova Chixburgers and Rick’s Picks, awaits.
