A few years back, it felt like you couldn’t check out an underground show in Brooklyn without Das Racist making an appearance. They’re a bit harder to pin down now, now that their most recent album Relax was released late last year to acclaim from Rolling Stone and Spin as well as hitting the iTunes and Billboard charts. But if you haven’t gotten your fill of the “Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell” rappers, you’re in luck—they’ll be playing the free summer concert series in Red Hook Park this Tuesday. The vibe at the Red Hook concerts is considerably more chill than the ones in Prospect Park, so come prepared for fewer fancy perks (no Ample Hills!) but just as much quality music. “Unconventional / alternative” hip-hop not really your style? Brand Nubian headline an evening presented by Lyricist Lounge on Wednesday, and Deer Tick play on Thursday.
