If you are missing SNL-style skewering of the White House, Fox News and the Republicans, or just wish someone would throw a little song and dance into your election coverage, get your fix of demented political satire during the release party for The McSweeney’s Book of Politics & Musicals Thursday night at powerHouse Arena. Contributors including Henry Alford, Teddy Wayne, Mike Lacher (who we just learned wrote a book called On the Bro’d, a bro-speak translation of On The Road) and editor Christopher Monks will be performing political musicals penned by Ben Greenman, such as Edwards! The Musical, starring singer-songwriter/author Alina Simone as John Edwards’ baby mama and recent ex, Rielle Hunter. The evening begins at 7pm; RSVP here.
